Sad gits church has been a dream of mine for some time. SAd gits are mostly aging hippies like me. The hair and the flares may have gone but the hippy longing for an ideal world lives on. Sad because so many of the exotic dreams of our youth have not come true. Gits because we loyally keep old institutions going whilst incessantly chuntering about how much better they can be.
So how can church be better:
Starter for 10 is about the worship, it needs to be loud - imagine Cream doing worship songs???!! It needs to offer space for musicians to worship God with lead breaks and drum solos not just twee singing. It needs to be minimalist but really tight! It needs to be open to the Holy Spirit without being directive. Expecting God to move without trying to control how that happens. Open to the word of God in the Bible without being dogmatic about interpretations. Concentrating on equipping Christians for real living rather than points scoring about theological knowledge .
I've more questions than answers about how it should work, but this might start a conversation.
